The Olympic And The Paralympic Committees Are Merged As One Single Entity

During the 25th general assembly today, Thursday

The 25th general assembly announced the merging between the Saudi Paralympic Committee and the Saudi Olympic Committee to be one single entity under the name of: The Saudi Olympic & Paralympic committee.

This was during the general assembly meeting which took place on Thursday. Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi Bin Abdulaziz chaired the meeting on behalf of Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal president of the Saudi Olympic Committee in the presence of members of the general assembly in the hall of the Ministry of Sport at Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Olympic complex.

Prince Abdulaziz Al-Faisal affirmed “we are pleased to declare the merging between of the Saudi Paralympic Committee and the Saudi Olympic Committee to be officially a single entity named as the Saudi Paralympic & Olympic Committee. This merging is a significant step that contribute in achieving the 2030 Saudi vision objectives in light of the unconditional support of Saudi sport by King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and HRH Prince Mohammed Bin Salman as a transitional phase through which we seek to write a new chapter and a renewed era that witnesses great Saudi sports achievements in various regional, continental and international platforms.

HH added: “This integration is aimed at the development of the sports sector, the consolidation of the efforts and services provided to all categories of athletes, compliance with clear and unified plans, the provision of a link between athletes of all categories, the strengthening of the Saudi presence at various international platforms and encouraging practice of sport among society.”

Several reports were discussed at the assembly, as “Tokyo2020 Olympic games “, the Saudi Olympic training center report, the World Combat Games report, the Asian Games (Riyadh2034), the approval of the financial and administrative report of the Saudi Olympic and the annual report and the adoption of the Saudi Arbitration Center statute.

The assembly as well named Mr. Ahmed Al-Mugairin the former president of the Paralympic committee as a board member in the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee with creating a new position which will be occupied later. In addition to naming the Saudi Falcons Club and the Saudi Aviation club as members in the general assembly, As well as the Saudi Olympic training center and the Saudi Olympic academy as observer members.
