SOPC holds a Sports Safeguarding Workshop
The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee recently hosted a sports Safeguarding workshop at its headquarters in Riyadh. The workshop was designed for administrators and representatives of sports federations, committees, and associations, coinciding with the upcoming 1st GCC Youth Games, to be hosted by the UAE in mid-April.
During the workshop, attendees discussed measures, policies, and practices aimed at safeguarding individuals, particularly children and vulnerable adults, from harm and various forms of abuse, exploitation, and neglect within the sports environment. The workshop introduced the Safeguarding officers who will be appointed to support the ecosystem within Games, starting from the upcoming GCC Youth Games, explaining their roles and responsibilities.
The workshop also focused on presenting solutions and suggestions to provide protection and care for those who have experienced such abuses.
