Saudi Arabia Concludes Its Participation In Tokyo 2020 With Hmadi’s Sliver Medal
The Saudi national Karate team player Tariq Hamdi recorded a recent achievement for Saudi sport with a silver medal in the 75KG Karate competition in the 32nd Olympic games, which is concluding tomorrow in Tokyo, Japan. Hamdi got the silver medal due to the referee’s decision in the final match against his Iranian opponent Sajjad. the result indicated that Hamdi had advanced over his Iranian opponent with a score of (4-1), until the entry of the medical team due to the Iranian player’s faling after Hamdi’s glancing blows. And then, The Turkish referee considered the score canceled and declared Hamdi as a silver medal winner.
It is noteworthy that Hamdi qualified for the semi-finals after he was ranked 2nd in his group. Hamdi lost his first match against the Croatian player Ivan (3-2), won against the American player Brian (4-1), also won against the Canadian player Daniel (10-3), and tied with Sajjad (0-0) before he won against the Japanese player Araga, who’s the sixth ranked nationally, (2-0) in the seme-final.
HH price Abdulaziz bin Turki Alfaisal, president of the SAOC announced that Tariq Hamdi will be rewarded with the golden medal prize which is five million Riyals. Hamdi got the golden medal prize because he was supposed to be ranked first in the final match and rewarded with the gold medal.
HH president of the SAOC congratulated the custodian of the two holy mosques, king Salman bin Abdulaziz and HRH, crown prince Mohammed bin Salman for this achievement after nine years from the last medal. HH added that this achievement is a completion of the infinite support and contribution provided by the Saudi enlightened leadership.
After the coronation, Tariq Hamdi stated in the conference that he is satisfied with his performance, and he was closer to achieve the golden medal. He also illustrated that he respected the referee’s decision. Hamdi emphasized that participating in the Olympics is very hard and it is every athlete’s dream. At the end, Hamdi wished the continued existence of Karate game in all the Olympics.
After achieving this medal, the number of the Olympic medals have increased to four medals, two silver medals and 2 bronze medals. the sprinter Hadi Soua’an won the silver medal and a bronze medal went to the equestrian Khalid Aleid in (sedney 2000) Olympics, in addition to the Shows Jumping bronze medal in (London 2012)
