Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Is Declared As President Of The UANOC

The 20th general assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees (UANOC) announced unanimously HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki AlFaisal president of the (UANOC) by acclamation from (2021-2024).

The Saudi Olympic hosted the general assembly at the Olympic complex, Riyadh. The general assembly was chaired by Sheikha Hayat Bint Abdulaziz Al khalifa. In addition to the presence of HH Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi VP of (SAOC), Mr. Faisal Ali Ghassal head of youth and sports administration in the League of Arab States, members of the executive board, presidents and members of the (UANOC).

Prince Abdulaziz extended his thanks and gratitude to King Salman and the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman for the unlimited support to the various affairs and areas of the Arab nation including the sport field within their belief in the importance of maintaining the Arab unity.

Prince Abdulaziz affirmed that Arab sport is going through a great development with a great support which contributed in recording several Arab achievements, most recent recording the best Arab Olympic participation in the Olympic Games by achieving 18 medals in Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

HH also viewed several objectives that the Saudi Olympic worked in achieving them recently. Most notably encouraging practice of sport among society to 40% in 2030, achieving the sport excellence of elite athletes, reinforcing women’s practice of sport, establishing high level sport tournaments, contributing in “fight climate change” initiative, and finally strengthening the Saudi representation in international organizations.

As president of the UANOC, Prince Abdulaziz declared Prince Talal Bin Badr as the Honorary President of the Union. He also extended his thanks and gratitude to Prince Talal for his great services during his presidency. In addition to declaring Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Mohammed Al-Enezi as general secretary of the UANOC.

Prince Abdulaziz concluded by expressing his gratitude to the general assembly and thanked all members of the assembly for their trust on HH.

The general assembly also witnessed several decisions. Most notably forming the Arab voluntary administration, the strategic plan of women’s sport, amendments of the Statute of the Arab Committees union, amendments of the basic policy of the Arab Sport Games and the Arab Women Sport tournament.

Moreover, the general assembly adopted the Saudi Olympic suggestion of joining the UNAOC to the agreement of (Sport for Climate) as one of the agreements of the united nations to fight the climate change. The meeting also endorsed Amman hosting of the next general assembly.
