The Opening Of The Winter Olympic Winter Games

As Saudi Arabia is marking the first participation since the first version of the Winter Olympics has launched in 1924, the 24th Winter Olympics was inaugurated today in Beijing which is to be held until the 20th of February in the presence of the President of the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal alongside 90 countries from all over the world.

Team Saudi Athlete Fayik Abdi carried the Saudi flag for the first time ever at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics which was held in the national stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest for almost 100 minutes. It also included several cultural and musical performances followed by the parade of flags bearers by countries’ delegations. Whereas 2861 athletes are to compete in 109 winter sport games.

The official Saudi delegation in the Winter Olympics included HH Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi VP of the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee, HRH Princess Reema Bint Bandar, board member of the SOPC and member of IOC, and Ms. Adwa AlArifi, board member of the SOPC.
