Riyadh to welcome top Taekwondo stars for Grand Prix Final

Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is all set to host the 2022 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Finals which will see the sport’s top stars showcasing their excellence to the world for the last time in 2022.

The three-day Grand Prix Finals will be the first Grand Prix event hosted in Saudi Arabia and is set to take place at the Green Halls, marking the return of the sport following the inaugural World Taekwondo Women’s World Championships in November 2021.

Athletes will compete across four men’s and four women’s Olympic weight categories in what will be a fiercely contested event with medals, Olympic ranking points and prize money on the line.

HRH President of the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Alfaisal said: “It is very fulfilling to witness hosting such an exquisite event as the world taekwondo Grand Prix here in the kingdom. I am confident that the grand prix event in Riyadh will reflect great impact of elite taekwondo athletes who shall showcase remarkable performances. It will also demonstrate the tremendous potential of the sporting sector in the kingdom under Vision 2030, especially after holding Saudi Games in Riyadh 2022 the greatest national sport event in Saudi Arabia. I wish to welcome the World Taekwondo Family to Saudi Arabia, and I express my best wishes of success to taekwondo athletes in the Grand Prix and Paris Olympics 2024 as well.
