The 40th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), held Sunday in Dubai, approved Riyadh's bid to host the OCA’s 7th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2025 for the first time in the kingdom’s history.
On this occasion, Minister of Sports and President of the (SAOC) Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal offered his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, for their unconditional support they provide to the Saudi sports. HRH emphasized that this great support contributed significantly in placing the Saudi sports at the global stages of sports.
HRH affirmed in a press statement, "Saudi sport has taken advanced steps globally, seen in the hosting of several international sports events, most notably the Asian Games 2034, thanks to the unlimited support of our leadership and the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman follow-up and keenness. In addition to the generous support, which resulted in the launch of the sports federations support strategy with an estimated budget of SAR 2.6 billion. Moreover, for the first time in the history, the kingdom wins the bid to host the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2025.”
It’s also noteworthy that Asian Indoor and Martial Arts games was first held in Thailand, 2005, Macao, 2007, Vietnam, 2009, South Korea, 2013, and then in Ashgabat, 2017.
The meeting of the Asian General Assembly discussed several topics, most notably the Winter Olympics (Beijing 2022), the nineteenth Asian Games (Guangzhou 2022) and the 22nd Asian Games in Riyadh 2034.
Furthermore, HH, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi, general-secretary and OCA Executive board member, headed the delegation of the Kingdom in the work of the 40th General Assembly of the OCA, on behalf of the President of the SAOC, VP of the OCA, and OCA Executive board member, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki AlFaisal.
The official Saudi delegation included, Prince Abdullah bin Fahad Al Saud, Ms. Adwa Al-Arifi as board members of the SAOC, and Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Baqous, executive director of marketing and institutional communications.
